Malu Fernandez Is Back

Well, true to the promise of Manila Standard Today, Malu Fernandez has indeed come back for her Monday column.

And as if nothing happened, here she is in her acerbic wit writing style talking about ugly things on your dresser. You can find her column here.

Sometimes it really baffles me how MST can hire a columnist like Fernandez and talk about beauty and grooming and the like while she herself does not really fall under the eye candy category.

I mean the likes of Dra. Belo and Dr. Calayan, who write columns and are known medical specialists even have to make sure that they look, at least fitting to what they talk about or what their vocations is about, but hey, nope, MST thinks the big fat arse is fit enough to tell me on beauty tips and what nots. I guess beauty does lie in the beholder, but in this case, who beholdens her?

And you could have at least expected her column to have a smaller version of apologies or something to that effect, but nay, Ms. Fernandez writes as if she has not touched the sensibilities of the OFW's.

This is why, i guess, some people lack faith in our institutions; in this case, a media pillar like Manila Standard Today.

Nope, i guess all this concerted effort to clamor has gotten us nowhere close to a whimper. Yep, we have achieved nothing except the fact that we have made her a byword.

Well, it all goes downhill from here.

i agree with this post. It does look like nothing has happened and MST did not address the issue.

Palugi na nga sila, ganyan pa ginagawa nila.

I have stopped reading Manila Standard and its mediocre contributor Maluo who. It's a shame that the historic "Manila" is being down dragged down by this tabloid, because the "Standard" they project appears to be the lowest standard in journalism ever. Prior to the insulting article of the equally obscure gossip-monger Malou, I very very seldomly read their obscure website anyway.

If Manila Standard insists on employing Malu Fernanadez, let's boycot this newspaper, and more importantly let's boycot their sponsors and advertizers.

it's not over-reacting, it's a natural reaction when someone gets insulted.

so from your comment, i would assume that you don't say or do anything when you get insulted or stepped on, right?

i may not be an ofw but i do share their sentiments over this. o.a. my ass.

Then again, if we call for the boycott of newspapers who still publish contributions from opinion writers and writers in general that do not appeal to us, what will happen to the newspaper industry? Give her a chance to write about the good that OFW's have made for the country; e.g. how OFW's (in the care-giving industry) have cared for those whose families do not care for them, bringing faith back into households, teaching English to the kids, etc. We take away her opportunity to do "reparation" through her writings. I suppose too that she can always blog and if she does not write for MS but decides to blog her insults, what will stop her writings to reach more people? Perhaps there are more filth that come through blogs than Malu has ever written in her columns (and perhaps that was only one).

ronturon, it's natural to be insulted. But how natural is it to incite a lynch mob? Because over the past 2 weeks, that's what the anti-Malu lobby's become.

LOL

That's right. Ano pa ba gusto nyo gawin sa Malu Fernandez? Ipako sa crux? Get moving and let go. It the same shett that's been discussed and talked over and over for God knows how long now. It is getting boring and old.

Honestly, nag mumuka ng nagger ang mga taga subaybay ni Malu Fernandez.

If you hate her, I think its better to shush and not talk of her. Lalo pinag uusapan lalo sumisikat.

F*ck her, puttang ina ni Malu Fernandez! Pagkatapos ko sya murahin ngayon, ano pa ba magagawa ko? Ano pa ba puwede ko gawin? Gahasahin sya, chop chopin, ilagay sa maleta at itapon sa ilog pasig? Matutuwa na ba kayo ngayon? I call B.S on this perpetual whining on Malu Fernandez.

it really all boils down to a question of principles. If you get insulted, what do you do; how do you react to the insult?

many people will solicit different reactions, in this case however, the reaction of one sector, is the reaction of many (if not all).

All we want is a proper apology accompanied with a proper explanation.

Mr. Jonas, it is not whining, it is the collective effort of trying to make a point.

If you don't get it, here's an example; it's like you constantly coming back clamoring (or was whining the word you used) for the humor in my writing.

If you don't get the humor, then you don't get it. I'm fine with that.

If you don't like my writing, then don't read it.

If you think it's false advertising, then don't patronize it.

It is as simple as that.

PS:If you think we're overreacting, then your ideas of raping her and chopping her to pieces and throwing her off a boat is the sanest reaction I've heard so far.

Ayan, nagsalita na si Anton.

Boss chief, that was a good retort.

ronturon said...

now, ain't that humorous? ha ha.

and to frosted donut, i really wouldn't call it a lynch mob. we don't want her burned on the stake, we just want a sincere apology from her. and her resignation. he he. don't get me wrong, i've read some extreme reactions on other blogs. i get your point.

ronturon said...

the above is one of the reasons why other people are calling us a lynch mob. we don't want malu dead, we don't want any of her family or loved ones dead.

didn't you have a filter for comments like this before, anton? i think it's time to bring it back.

MALOU FERNANDEZ: My unsolicited advise to you is PLEASE read Dale Carnegie’s HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE. It is a very enlightening book. Although old this is still applicable to our present days. Another is Emily Post’s book on Etiquette.
